The GD Selection, by recognizing and rewarding excellently designed products, promotes the advancement of eco-friendly design that contribute to sustainable green growth, and encourages innovation and creativity through quality products that contribute to aesthetically and practically enhancing our daily lives.
Ultimately, the GD Selection aims to improve the quality of life by improving product designs and meeting the diverse demands of consumers, and to contribute to the development of design by expanding public awareness of the field.

  High-quality, easy-to-use, good design products widely used and sold in our daily life
  • Electric electronic products (E) : TV, VCR, refrigerator, washing machine, stereo, vacuum cleaner, air conditioner, etc.
  • Telecommunication products (F) : MP3 Player, computer, telephone, fax machine, mobile phone, door speaker phone, personal computer peripheral, etc.
  • Household utensils (G) : Camera, handbag, wallet, pressure cooker, kitchen ware, gas range, industrial pottery, etc.
  • Jewelry (S) : Watch, ring, necklace, bracelet, earring, etc.
  • Industrial machinery (B) : Forklift truck, excavator, dozer, loader, ammeter, elevator, water pump for agricultural use, etc.
  • Juvenile products (L) : Toy, baby carriage, baby walker, video game system, baby tricycle, indoor toy, etc.
  • Educational supplies (M) : Microscope, world globe, art tool, science education supply, transparent reflector, etc.
  • Office supplies & stationery (K) : Writing instrument, pencil sharpener, copying machine, document editor, printer, beam projector, etc.

• B. Packaging Design (Q)
  All types of packaging design with functionality and good design considering environmental friendliness, waste processing and recycling.
  Confectionery, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, liquors, drinks, agricultural, livestock & fisheries products, domestic appliances, miscellaneous goods, fashion accessories and other items.
• C. Environment Design 
  Outdoor facilities and public facilities with harmonized natural and artificial beauty making our lives more comfortable
  • Environmental architecture & facilities(D) : Taxi & bus stop, subway facilities, signs, garbage can, street lamp, street flower beds, phone booth, bench, kiosk, bridge, breakwater, embankment, etc.
  • Public facilities(U) : Street facilities, city infrastructure and signboard made or managed by central or local government, public institution and related organization.

  All products being used at the time of application for sales promotion and service conducted by company and communication media of visual language

• E. Materials & Surface Processing Design (T)
  
  • The surface of products showing various design effect developed through design innovation
  • Materials, applied materials or all types of products using these materials
• F. Architecture Design (P)
  Architecture design and buildings possessing good quality and high technology, harmonizing with surroundings
  • Public facilities architecture : Office building, commercial building, residential architecture, hotel and recreational facilities, plant and research laboratory, interior design, gallery and cultural facilities, parking space, playground, hospital, library, park, etc.
• G. Fashion Design (W)
  Fashion design including ready-made clothes possessing creativity and originality
  • Clothing and fashion accessories (W) : women and men's dress, sports and casual clothes, children's wear design, underwear design, purse, belt, etc.
  • Textile goods (C) : design for umbrella, necktie, scarf, handkerchief, bedding, new textile design, new pattern design, etc.

The categories of the projects that you have submitted are subject to change at the discretion of the host organization.

About sixty finalists out of all the GD selections will be competed for the GD awards. The judgment, including exhibition open to the public, will be held at Design Korea 2010.
The fee for the award-selection judgment and exhibition will be additionally charged

    Your registration is completed when the registration fee has been paid?during the online registration periods.

    While filling in registration form, please check one between onsite judging and product-submission judging.
    You will be requested to upload image(RGB format, JPG file, less than 500kb in size) when you fill in description(2)
• B. Product submission
  • (1) The products that have been registered online should be submitted to KIDP, Korea. Exceptionally, heavy or large products which are unavailable to be moved(heavy machinery or kitchen furniture, etc) can request onsite judgment.

  Unnecessary items other than the registered products are not allowed to be displayed.
  Acceptance of the onsite judging will be notified individually.
  Submitted products may be functioned for review. Therefore please be aware that loss or damage might occur.
  If the value of an item is considerable, the item should be insured. Please be aware that KIDP, its employees and agents take no responsibility for any damage or loss caused to any products provided while delivering, handling, storing and packaging.

• C. Award-selection judging
  • Award-selection judging will be conducted in cooperation with Design Korea 2009.
  • All the finalists for the award-selection judging should submit their products for evaluation and exhibition.
• D. Costs
  • Registration fee : 150USD per entry(should be paid on registration)
  • GD Selection Fee: 500USD per entry
  • GD Award fee: 1,500USD per entry
  • Onsite judging fee : 50USD per entry(should be paid after the organization confirms the onsite judging

  • Products sold for two years or less or to be sold in domestic or international markets
    (by virtue of provisions in Article 10.2 of Enforcement Decree of Industrial Design Promotion Act)

  • (1) Products in legal conflicts under Patent Act, Utility Models Act, Design Act, Trademark Act, Copyright Act and other related laws
  • (2) Products that are admitted to have plagiarized other products
  • (3) Products that are admitted to have violated public order and morals
  • (4) Products that have been registered before in the GD Selection

  • Utilization of GD mark is allowed to selected products and its package, description, and warrant.

  • (1) How to issue : available on the "Issuing Certificates" under the "My GD" category of GD website(www.gd.or.kr / www.goodesign.or.kr)
  • (2) Modification period of GD Certificates
    The First half of the year : May 29(Fri) to June 5(Fri)
    The Second half of the year : October 30(Fri) to?November 6(Fri)
• C. Monitoring
  • When the form or function of the product in circulation turns out to be different from that of the selected one, or it is ineligible for any other regulations, the utilization of GD mark will be suspended or canceled.

• A. Granted priority status when applying for a procurement item of the Excellent Quality Products System by Public Procurement Service
• B. Granted priority status when applying for the Design Innovation Product Development Project(within two years)
• C. Granted priority status when recommending participants in local and international exhibitions such as Design Korea, Korea Electronics Show.
• D. Selected entries shall be allowed to carry a jointly branded design label with GD and AIDA(Australian International Design Awards) as the conclusion of mutual recognition between GD and AIDA.
• F. Frequently promoted as government-authorized GD products in the press and KIDP website.
